The WREA Foundation was established in 1996 by the Wisconsin Retired Educators' Association (WREA) to provide outreach programs to the community, to support continuing education and life-long learning, and to enhance and foster
volunteerism.

- Challenge Award Grants--Each year the WREA Foundation awards five $2,000 grants to each first place winner and five $250.00 awards to each second-place winner, in each of WREA's five regions. The awards rotate between public
elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools.
In the Spring of 2024, AWARDS were presented to public high schools for existing innovative projects implemented in the 2021-2022, 2022-2023, or 2023-2024 school
years.
The 2025 Application Period will begin November 1, 2024, and ends February 1, 2025.
The Awards recognize ongoing, innovative projects not more than three years old. The application form is simple and requires a project description
limited to no more than 500 words. The application form for public elementary schools is available from November 1, 2024, through February 1, 2025, during the application time. The Challenge Award Grant Application is only available online. Scroll down to access the form.
